Meet the presenters

Animesh HarringtonAnimesh Harrington

Animesh was born in Sydney and studied science and philosophy at the University of NSW. He first met Sri Chinmoy while in London during the early 1970s. It was a life-changing experience.

On returning to Australia in 1976, he established a meditation centre in Brisbane based on Sri Chinmoy’s teachings — an integral approach to the spiritual life expressed in art, music, literature and sport.

After spending almost 13 years in Brisbane, he returned to Sydney in 1989  where he continued his involvement with the Sri Chinmoy Centre.

Animesh has run numerous marathons and ultra-marathons, organised hundreds of running events for the public, including Australian sections of the international Peace Run. During the mid-1980s, he published a running magazine that sold in newsagents throughout Australia and New Zealand.

He also organised a major Peace Concert in Sydney in 1989 at which Sri Chinmoy performed solo to an audience of thousands.

Animesh has written extensively about Sri Chinmoy and currently administers a website  called Sri Chinmoy Reflections.

unmilan_howardUnmilan Howard

Unmilan was born in the garden city of Toowoomba, just west of Brisbane. And if fate had not intervened, he might have lived a simple, quiet life in rural Queensland. Instead, Unmilan found himself living in New York City for fifteen years.

In the late 1970s, he joined the Sri Chinmoy meditation centre and subsequently moved to Brisbane. His practical skill with metal and technical knowledge of engineering were soon recognised by Sri Chinmoy, who at the time was looking for exercise machines to strengthen himself.

It was not long before Unmilan moved to New York, and began working on innovative equipment to accommodate Sri Chinmoy’s unique weightlifting style. He invented a special lifting platform to enable Sri Chinmoy to honour people by lifting them overhead.

Except for a short period when he returned to Australia to start a business, manufacturing and exporting exercise machines to Europe, he remained by Sri Chinmoy’s side. As Sri Chinmoy travelled the globe attending  various international meetings, Unmilan was there setting up weights and lifting equipment.

Unmilan is now back in Australia and loves nothing more than to talk about his experiences with Sri Chinmoy.
